What’s In Your Essential Oil Bottle?

What’s inside seems like it would be obvious, transparent, and pure right? Unfortunately it’s not that simple. Honesty and integrity aren’t the norm in the essential oil industry, and it’s estimated that 85% of the essential oils on the market are adulterated.  In other words, you can make Cinnamon smell like “Cinnamon” with synthetic constituents that don’t give you the same results.

Did you know that when essential oils are labeled “natural” or “organic” it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re pure or tested to have optimal levels of potent chemical constituents, or free of fillers or contaminants? The same goes for scented skin products. More than likely, essential oil additions are a synthetically or low quality essential oil/fragrance. That’s not really what you’re going for is it? Just like you can get food out of your garden, or you can buy it in a package – the quality and benefits are different.  I’ve found doTERRA to be the most ethical and pure sourcing model in the essential oil industry.

Pure and potent essential oils.

doTERRA essential oils are recognized as one of the highest quality essential oils in the world — with their sourcing, testing, and distributing used as a global standard. Their quality standard includes rigorous testing to ensure potency for desired therapeutic qualities, as well as third party testing guarantees absence of chemicals, contaminants and microorganisms. For me, this means confidence in the products I’m using because of the integrity of this company. doTERRA sources plants from where they grow indigenously, where their chemistry is optimal, or where they can have the most positive environmental impact for sustainability practices.  There’s also another reason why doTERRA reaches around the world to source essential oils.

Every time you buy a bottle of doTERRA essential oil, you’re supporting every single person involved in the supply chain.

doTERRA remains committed to sustainable fair sourcing and partnerships that eliminate brokers, who in other parts of the essential oil industry, take advantage of the grower, by not paying them fairly or on time. The commitment doTERRA has is very different, which makes it possible for the growers to provide for their families, send their children to school, buy land, and partner with a company that has their best interest in mind.

doTERRA customers have the opportunity to donate $1 or more to this foundation each month.  Here’s some of the projects…

Haiti – where we source our Vetiver – clean drinking water (where before the children were walking hours in each direction to collect water).

Guatemala – where we source our Cardamom – feminine hygiene education (teaching the women about menstruation and sexual health).

Bulgaria – where we source Lavender – providing a safe space for transitioning orphans (16-18 years) to live in which they can learn hospitality skills and integrate into the world in a supportive way.

Somalia – where we source our Frankincense – we have provided schooling for the farmers daughters (usually education is saved for the boys).

I personally love partnering with a soulful company that has people’s lives and the Earth’s future in mind! Whether you want to simply use the oils, share them with your community, or build a conscious business, every single purchase you make means you are helping to change the world and make it a better place for people that need a helping hand.
